TORONTO – April 25, 2008 – One part Imelda Marcos and one part Mother Teresa, the 2nd Annual Killer Style For A Killer Cause is a different fashion show that makes a difference. To be held on May 7th at Revival, 783 College Street, at 7 PM, all proceeds go directly to The Group for the Improvement of Intestinal Function and Treatment (GIFT) at the Hospital for Sick Children. B A L I S I is hosting the charity catwalk event to coincide with the opening of their second store on Queen Street. Featuring what’s hot for Spring, Summer and Fall ’08 (like peep toe pumps and razor-sharp stilettos), volunteer models will strut B A L I S I’s fab brands like Fly London, Eject, El Naturalista, Not Rated, Chinese Laundry and Miz Mooz. Store owners Rehlee Balisi and Cory Kierstead have chosen GIFT as it is the first formal multidisciplinary team in Canada dedicated to the treatment and research of intestinal failure or short bowel syndrome in children—in shorter hospital stays, fewer complications and fewer deaths from liver disease. “It just felt appropriate,” Rehlee says. “This whole show is one big GIFT.” True enough, everyone involved have volunteered their time and talent for the cause. Designers Juan Carlos Gaona and Luis Rajiv have crafted cutting-edge couture using only chiffon and zippers. Make-up is courtesy of Honey Comb, and DJ Matt Gracie will be spinning ultra sexy sounds all night long. Advance tickets are $35 and includes complimentary hors d’oeuvres, door prizes, gift cards and gift bags from B A L I S I, and that overwhelming feeling of joy that comes with helping children in need.
